- Callum21 de dezembro de 2025⭐½ – Alley Cat — Barely Scratching By Alley Cat isn’t an especially good film, but in the broad world of martial-arts escapism, it does at least avoid being relentlessly downbeat or sliding into anything overly fetishistic — and that counts for something. It’s the cinematic equivalent of getting through the day on momentum rather than inspiration. I’d firmly place this in C-grade martial arts territory. Even by the standards of its time — and especially when compared to other low-budget action films from the era — it struggles to stand out. The choreography is serviceable at best, the storytelling thin, and the overall production feels more functional than passionate. That said, it will get you through the runtime without actively offending you. And for people like me — those who’ve done martial arts for a significant chunk of their life or who simply have a soft spot for the genre — there’s just enough familiarity to keep it mildly engaging. You can see what it’s trying to be, even if it never quite gets there. For everyone else? There’s very little reason to seek it out. This is niche viewing, and even within that niche, it’s far from essential. 🥤 Pairing: A room-temperature sports drink — it keeps you going, does the job, but you wouldn’t choose it if something better was on offer.
- Jeremiah29 de junho de 2025From the 80s but steps right out of 70s with its exploitation trash. Alley Cat is an exploitative, karate chopping, vengeance filled, boob showing bad ass girl boss. Filled with atrocious acting, goofy and absurd dialog, a dumb story, amateur editing and pacing with some of the most unrealistic and awkward fighting and action ever put to celluloid… But I still had fun with it. It’s never presented as anything more than it is, so you know what you are getting. I had plenty of chuckles from all these “negatives” but it’s less “so bad its good” and more “if you can have fun with this genre we’re gonna give you just that”. And as stated, I did have fun with it.
