- Kalen ClarkApril 16, 2025I finally rewatched Airplane! and somehow it’s still just as funny—maybe even funnier—than the first time I saw it. The humor holds up remarkably well, especially considering how many comedies from that era rely on dated references or styles that don’t quite translate anymore. This one doesn’t have that problem. It’s fast-paced, absurd, and completely committed to its own ridiculousness in a way that just works. What really stood out this time around was Leslie Nielsen. His delivery is so straight-faced and sincere that it makes every line land harder. He doesn’t act like he’s in a comedy, which makes it all the more hilarious. That kind of performance is rare and it’s what gives the film such a distinct charm. He’s easily the highlight, though the whole cast seems perfectly in on the joke. There’s a reason Airplane! became so iconic. The jokes aren’t just memorable—they’re layered. Even the background gags and throwaway lines add to the chaos. It’s the kind of film you can revisit over and over and still find new things to laugh at. It’s not trying to be clever or modern, it’s just unapologetically silly—and that’s exactly what makes it so timeless. Five out of five stars, without question.
- Mister ArnFebruary 17, 2025The jokes are juvenile, yet still very funny. Found myself laughing at jokes even when I knew they were coming.
