A Rainy Day in New York Ratings & Reviews
- StupreeMarch 23, 2025Why does Allen make all of the characters in his films act so over the top neurotic. I literally just picked this movie out of nowhere and had no idea who made it until I saw that kid from Dune in the first scene and knew it was a Woody Allen movie. Allen is gross.
- Charles LondonFebruary 6, 2025I'm probably in the minority here, as I have seen a number of harsh reviews, but I liked this movie more than just a little. It's pretty typical Woody Allen fare with witty dialog, neurotic characters, and a bouncy soundtrack set against the Manhattan skyline on, at least in this case, a gray rainy day. In a way, it's kind of a poor man's Annie Hall. Make no mistake, Elle Fanning is no Diane Keaton, but Timothee Chalamet does an admirable job delivering Allen's script and Jude Law provides a stand-out supporting performance. There are no guffaws to speak of but ample chuckles and smiles throughout. Not a bad movie to watch when stuck inside on, well...a rainy day.
