Not bad for a chill quiet day movie, for those that are younger crowds. It's a no more than once a year type of movie.

Tom is a pilot fish in human form. An absolute masterclass in how not to handle a relationship. Also a pretty good movie.

⭐⭐½ – 500 Days of Summer – Love, Loops, and Lost Meaning 500 Days of Summer is one of those films that divides people — some find it profound, others just find it puzzling. When it came out, it was hailed as a clever, offbeat look at modern relationships. For me, it never quite landed. At 25, I remember thinking it was trying a little too hard to be deep, like a mixtape of romantic melancholy that I just didn’t feel in tune with. Joseph Gordon-Levitt once again does what he does best — playing the everyman dreamer, this time hopelessly smitten with Zooey Deschanel’s Summer, a woman who simply doesn’t share his idea of love. She’s charming, detached, and magnetic, but maybe too much so — her performance feels ethereal to the point of drifting out of reach. I’d hoped her presence would ground the film after Bridge to Terabithia and Hitchhiker’s Guide, but instead, it just sort of floats along. The film’s nonlinear storytelling and indie tone were fresh at the time, but for me, it felt like style over substance — a collage of clever moments rather than a story that truly connected. Maybe it’ll hit differently now that I’m older, maybe I’ll “get it” one day, but it’s not one I feel compelled to revisit. 🎧 Pairing: A glass of red wine left out overnight — complex, a little sour, and you’re not sure if it’s you or the drink that changed.
