When it comes to the stories, most of them are very superficial dramas with some of them trying to take on complex ideas such as life after incarceration and other life changing events. Action is a plenty as most, if not every, episode has a bout with some sort of emergency response adventure. The cast is a smattering of good and bad actors/actresses, with some of the newer ones being the worst of all. If you need a fairly routine bump of action in your life but want to do other things while listening to the story, this is your show.

Bode Donovan (Max Thieriot) ist ganz unten angekommen. Nach einem schweren Schicksalsschlag ist er auf die schiefe Bahn geraten, was ihn letztendlich hinter Gitter geführt hat. Das Einzige, was ihn jetzt noch retten kann: eine zweite Chance. Diese erhält er in Form eines Resozialisierungsprojekts der Feuerwehr, in welchem Häftlingen Strafverkürzung versprochen wird, wenn sie bei der hochgefährlichen Tätigkeit bewähren. Bode nimmt an dem Feuerweh-Programm Teil und kehrt kurzerhand in seine alte Heimatstadt Edgewater in Nordkalifornien zurück, um der erfahrenen Feuerwehr-Crew im Kampf gegen gefährliche Waldbrände zur Seite zu stehen. Kann er sich im Dienst beweisen und sich endlich den Schatten der Vergangenheit stellen?
