I will say both stylistically & visually the Flatliners remake is good to look at. And Elliot Page's performance & charisma definitely carries the film in the 1st half. With a remake that already didn't have a whole lot going for it anyway! Simply deciding to kill off Elliot Page's character was a massive mistake. Which makes the film borderline unwatchable from that point onwards; as there's hardly any redeemable qualities to it, aside from a couple of cool looking visuals. The whole pacing feels off and the climax is very disappointing & uneventful and just very forgettable as a whole. Whenever I'm in the mood to watch Flatliners, I'm just going to 10 times out of 10 choose to watch the 1990 film, instead of this dud of a remake. A very compelling concept, with a very strong cast at the heart of it, that all give great performances both as a collective & individually. I love the whole tone & vibe of the movie and just how it's all lit, really does give it that atmosphere & sense of dread about it. Flatliners also has a lot of depth to it regarding its themes. However 🚨 SPOILER 🚨 as much as I love the characters! I would have chosen to kill off a couple more of them if I was directing it, instead of having all 5 of them make it out alive. Just to give it that unpredictability and to give it that real high stakes feel to it, that nobody is safe. Overall "Flatliners" is one of "Joel Schumachers" best works and is a film that is very enjoyable & watchable all the way through. If I was ever to do a Tier List Ranking on Legacy Sequels in the horror genre; then The Craft Legacy would be in the bottom tier of that Tier List. This sequel totally misses the point, of what made that original film great. None of the attributes & ingredients from the 96 film are applied here. At times it almost doesn't even feel like a Legacy Sequel. It doesn't bring anything new to the table or enhance the lore or anything. They just used the name so they could make bums in seats so that they could profit as much as they possibly could from the name. And that's exactly what this Legacy sequel feels like it was made for. Say what you want about this movie, but there's actually a lot to be seeked out here! As the movie has multiple alternate endings. And one of the alternate endings really brings together the whole point of the movie. Is the movie flawed, with a very weak twist "Yes" but also at the same time is it a competently made and a very watchable movie, with really strong performances at the center of it in Robert De Niro & Dakota Fanning "Absolutely" I love also the setting I thought it was perfect, it really gave off that atmosphere & sense of dread I thought. Also it's well shot and the cinematography looks great as well. Don't get me wrong Hide and Seek is no masterpiece whatsoever, but it does have redeeming qualities. Just subvert your expectations when it comes to the twist; as its staring you in the face. I do think for those of you who haven't seen it before, will like it for what it is, if you go into it with mindset. And don't forget to watch all of the multiple alternate endings also!!! My Personal Ratings for (Hide and Seek 2005) and I'm going with my prefferd alternate ending here! A very solid 6.75/10 & a 3.75/5 Stars 🌟Hide and Seek - Nightride
"Nightride" is one of the better "Netflix" original films, the plot is laser focused and the dialogue is razor sharp, which is all delivered with such conviction & meaning behind it. Also the performance from our lead is very realistic & convincing all the way through!! Nightride had me 💯 gripped, the suspense never lets up. I love these type of movies that are in real time, it just makes us feel as if we're right there on this terrifying journey, right alongside our protagonist for the entire runtime. That's why this film really works. I can't recommend "Nightride" enough it's very suspenseful & watchable and My Ratings & Scores for Nightride are 4 & a Half Stars & a 9/10Nightride
