Jim Backus as the Father: Jim Backus, known for his comedic roles (like Mr. Magoo), plays Jim Stark's ineffectual and emasculated father, a crucial representation of the generational conflict. Nicholas Ray's Direction: Nicholas Ray was known for his films dealing with social issues and alienation, and Rebel Without a Cause is considered one of his best. - Cubane22. juli 2026I think people only pretend to like this movie because James Dean can't drive worth a damn. We've got painfully overused studio zone filming locations, 25 year olds poorly playing high schoolers, some truly dismal writing (even by '50s standards), pacing measured on geological timescales, and an insultingly boisterous musical score behind it all. As Hans Landa would say, that's a bingo!
