Rhydian sets out in search of Maddy but encounters his mother Ceri's pack of wild wolfbloods, which includes Jana, who has been shot. Rhydian takes her to the Smiths' old house, summoning Tom, Shannon and Dacia but is embarrassed by the pack's hostile reaction to them. Jana changes into a wolf and a vet is called, who, thanks to Ceri, manages to save the girl's life. The pack then departs, leaving Jana at the Smiths' house with Rhydian.
