Bob believes that Terry should broaden his social horizons and invites him to a dinner party he and Thelma are attending, hosted by their middle-class friends Alan and Brenda. Embarrassment reigns when it turns out that Brenda is from working class origins which she is trying to hide and is known to Terry from early school days, a fact of which he keeps reminding her. A row ensues with Thelma oddly siding with Terry.
