Hlaford, a Viking warrior with a fearsome reputation, turns out to now be a peaceful baker. When Flake is attacked by Ivar the Ruthless, Hlaford's nemesis, Vic saves the day by building a 'skjaldborg' or 'shield wall' from burnt bread loaves to repel the attack.
