V Ratings & Reviews
- flavo43November 23, 2025The 1984 V TV series had the difficult task of following two highly successful miniseries, and in my opinion, the miniseries format was perfect for this story. Short, tightly focused episodes allowed the original concept to shine—sharply written resistance-versus-occupation drama, strong allegories, and meaningful character development. But when V shifted into a full 20-episode network television season, it began to lose its bite. Instead of maintaining the intensity and cohesion of the miniseries, the show became diluted as it struggled to find enough plot threads and weekly topics to sustain such a long run. Today, with streaming services favouring 6–8 episode seasons, V would thrive in a more compact format. Back then, however, the demands of network TV stretched the premise too thin. Like many fans, I found myself losing interest in a show I had once loved. It wasn’t terrible—it was simply a great idea forced into the wrong structure.
- Alex6d agoThis review is for the original miniseries and its sequel The Final Battle. An excellent series with a message for all of us about the dangers of accepting a fascist dictatorship, bringing with it the killing of citizens on the streets, the demonization of scientists, and the monopolization of the media. Imagine if that happened today, eh? <coughs in 2026> Don't bother with the rest of the series.
