A fund-raising party in Berlin: red carpet, glittering evening gowns, thunderstorms of flashes. Right in the middle of it all is millionaire contractor Christoph Gröner, tight-fitting suit, winning smile. As co-organizer of the gala, he goes from table to table to convince the guests to be generous at the auction. After all, the more the luxury watch brings to the auction, the more money there is to pay a children's home for a new football pitch or a few extra lessons. Gröner is one of the richest people in the country - his company is now worth a billion euros, he tells in "UNGLEICHLAND - Reichtum", the first part of the three-part series on inequality in Germany. For seven months Christoph Gröner had himself accompanied with his camera - in board meetings, on construction sites, privately - and while working for a good cause. Gröner knows that someone like him is the absolute exception in Germany.
