The Top 5 Reasons You Can't Blame

Season 1

The series examines controversial figures and events in the history of sports that featured figure(s) involved in the event later being labeled as a scapegoat. The show serves virtually the same purpose as a defense attorney in a criminal court trial: in each episode, it defends the accused by presenting evidence to separate fact from fiction, and then explaining why the accused cannot be held accountable from experts and witnesses.

Don DenkingerIn 1985, the St. Louis Cardinals were three outs away from their second World Series championship in four years when Jorge Orta grounded out to lead off the ninth inning of Game 6. But first base umpire Don Denkinger called Orta safe, in one of the worst blown calls in the history of professional sports. The Kansas City Royals rallied to win Game 6, and won the World Series after the Cardinals imploded in Game 7. The World Series banner would have to wait 21 years to fly over St. Louis, but how much of that was really Denkinger's fault?
