The Shannara Chronicles Ratings & Reviews
- flavo43November 23, 2025The Shannara Chronicles had all the ingredients to become a standout fantasy series—rich lore, a vast world, and a premise rooted in classic epic storytelling. The source material offered generations of history, magic, and adventure worth exploring, and visually the show embraced that potential with striking landscapes and an inviting post-apocalyptic fantasy aesthetic. But despite this strong foundation, the series often came across as a teen-focused drama, largely due to the youthful cast and the tone of many character arcs. While that isn’t inherently a flaw, it limited the show’s ability to attract a broader fantasy audience who might have expected something closer to Game of Thrones or The Witcher. The world itself clearly had room to grow—ancient secrets, evolving politics, and sweeping storylines that deserved deeper development. Unfortunately, the show never gained the momentum it needed, and its significant potential was lost. The Shannara Chronicles remains a beautiful but ultimately missed opportunity.
- Billy ZaneSeptember 12, 2025The show features the girl from Pan’s Labyrinth, plus Austin Butler before Dune and Elvis. It’s full of elves, demons, and moody stares, but also colorful, adventurous, and a lot more fun than it gets credit for. It only ran two seasons, but on my last rewatch it was better than I remember. Definitely a fun one if you like these type of shows.
- Daniel GustavssonOctober 12, 2024The first season is great. It's cheesy yes, but if you get psssed that, you're in for a treat if you like these fantasy themes.
