The Philco Television Playhouse is an American anthology series that was broadcast live on NBC from 1948 to 1955. Produced by Fred Coe, the series was sponsored by Philco. It was one of the most respected dramatic shows of the Golden Age of Television, winning a 1954 Peabody Award and receiving eight Emmy nominations between 1951 and 1956.

Incident in JulyDaddy Tom, the camp director, is upset when he learns through the grapevine that one of his counselors, Mrs. Johnson, is infatuated with his 19-year-old office worker, Andy, and that she wants to give him $1,100 for his education. The first part of the rumour is not true but the second part is. She is unable to have children and thinks this is a constructive way to use the money they saved for a child. She and her husband squabble over this. Andy's parents are dead. Daddy Tom fires both Mr. and Mrs. Johnson. He later re-hires them on the condition that she not mention the money until the last day of camp. She does wait, but Andy wants to work his way through college. She is reconciled with Mr. Johnson, and they decide to adopt a child.
