It's 1990 and Susie, now a very successful Talent Agent, is being honored in a "Testi-Rostial" at the famous Friar's Club. The comedians that are speaking are forbidden from mentioning the also-successful Midge Maisel, because there is a rift between the two women. Midge's career is going well, but Joel is behind bars. As the speakers share stories of Susie's road to success, we learn the reasons why via flashbacks to the 1960s and 1970s.
