Three's definitely a crowd for parcel-post deliveryman Doug Heffernan (Kevin James), whose newly-widowed father-in-law Arthur (Jerry Stiller) has moved in with him and his wife Carrie (Leah Remini). Doug's no longer the king of his domain--the renovated basement that houses his beloved supersized TV set--let alone the king of Queens, where he lives. Can they all just get along?

    Walk, ManTo Doug's delight, Carrie decides that she's ready to try for a baby again. Carrie also takes up spinning as a new hobby, and Doug is less happy about that. When Spence introduces his dog-walker friend Holly to the family, Carrie and Doug see an opportunity to re-direct her talents to their advantage.

    Sight GagFor Carrie's birthday, Doug decides to get her laser eye surgery. Doug brings her to the place, and the surgery is a success. The next day, Carrie wakes up to blurry vision. The next day she wakes up to the same thing. Doug calls up the doctor and asks if these symptoms are normal. The doctor says they are not normal, and Doug is now very nervous. Carrie finds out that Doug went to a cheap place, and used discounts.

    Mean StreakDoug is on course to break the record for the number of days without an "incident" - no complaints and no broken packages. The older members of the IPS depot aren't too happy that Doug is going to break the record held by their friend.

    Friender BenderDoug and Carrie get in a fender bender with Deacon and Kelly, and the agreement for Doug and Carrie to pay for the damages to Deacon and Kelly's car causes problems between the two couples. Meanwhile, Spence babysits Deacon and Kelly's son, Kirby, who, not understanding what "allergic" means, believes Spence to be afraid of peanuts and stops calling him the "Spencinator," referring to him as the "Scaredinator" instead.

    No RetreatCarrie and Doug Heffernan attend Carrie's annual company's retreat, and Carrie, hoping to impress the firm's partners, encourages Doug to be friendly with them, which Doug finds difficult. Meanwhile, Arthur is left at the home alone, with Doug and Carrie instructing Deacon to check up on him to ensure he is okay.

    Ticker TreatArthur forbids Halloween to be celebrated in the house, and Doug, fed up with Arthur's demands, defiantly decorates the house with Halloween decorations, which scares Arthur into the hospital. Once Doug finds out why Arthur hates Halloween, he attempts to find a way to make his father-in-law feel better, which is more difficult than he initially thought. Meanwhile, Deacon is concerned with his son's choice of Halloween costume.

When she finds out Doug (Kevin James) wouldn't want him if she dies she gets upset. She starts smoking again and Doug thinks she is trying to die first.

    Veiled ThreatIn this episode, the time is set prior to Doug and Carrie's marriage. Carrie is very nervous to be married to Doug. She can not stop vomiting. When the two meet with the priest, he remembers that Doug and Carrie met at camp as kids.

Spence looks for a new place to live when his rent is raised again and is surprised when Danny doesn't want to live with him.

Spence and Danny have a house warming party to celebrate their moving in together. Danny meets Holly, and he wants to ask to take her out on a date, but Spence asserts that he shouldn't.

    Ovary ActionIts Christmas time and Doug's parents are coming over. The only problem is that Doug and Carrie are trying to conceive because of Carrie's "fertile time." After trying to not tell his parents, Doug finally tells them of the situation and leaves the house for one night. That night, Doug can't perform because he is under pressure by his parents and Arthur.

    Food FightCarrie gets jealous when Doug's attention is focused on Spence's new girlfriend, Becky, a professional chef. It's not her looks. It's not her personality, it's her food! Doug can't get enough and Becky comes to rely on Doug to sample all of her new recipes. Carrie, feeling left out, finally reaches the end of her rope and demands that Doug stop his "food affair" with Becky.

    Double DownerDeacon asks Doug to come along to Atlantic City for a weekend. Carrie wants to go salsa dancing with Doug but concurs and they go to Atlantic City. However, Deacon has sent a message that he won't be coming. Doug's boss on the other hand, did come to Atlantic City and Doug and Carrie don't seem to be able to get rid of him.

    Dougie NightsNow that Deacon and Kelly have separated, Doug makes it his mission to get his friend out of the funk he's been in by taking him out to the clubs. Doug starts to realize he's been missing the days of hanging out with the singles and starts making a habit of it. In the meantime, Carrie is threatened by the new office assistant at the firm, Lila, who has an uncanny resemblance to her. The constant comments from the people at work starts to drive Carrie crazy and she decides to change her look a little in order to stop the comparisons.

    No OrleansWhen Doug and Carrie find an old check in a wedding present, they need to invite Doug's annoying relatives to write them a new one. The Heffernans plan on going to New Orleans with the money. However, Doug's relatives say that New Orleans is "their town", and tell Doug and Carrie not to go without them. Doug and Carrie get to the "Big Easy", but can they get back without them knowing.

    Missing LinksCarrie's work has an annual golf trip, but Doug and Carrie used to always take Deacon and Kelly. Now that Deacon and Kelly have split up, Doug and Carrie have to try to find another couple to invite to the golf trip.

However, Carrie has major reservations about this, knowing that Doug's gifts are not in running a business. Not to mention that Danny, Stu's son, is very jealous and angry that his own father would back Doug's business venture, but not his own.

Doug, who doesn't want to make a big deal of it has an argument with Carrie over it. Carrie thinks that the error is such a big deal that once the school board finds out about the mistake, they release "the dear sweet woman who handled the money that was donated", instead.

    Eddie MoneyDoug Heffernan takes $100 from the emergency fund jar to bet on boxing, and wins $5000 with Deacon. But they realize they can't tell anybody or Carrie will know he took the money, and Kelly will try to get the money in the divorce. They decide the best thing to do is blow all the money on the best day ever.

    Two ThirtyDoug has a bad tooth and decides to go to Deacon's dentist. But when Doug finds out that Carrie and the dentist know each other, he feels that the Dr. is hurting Doug on purpose out of jealousy. When Deacon wins a poker game over Arthur and Arthur doesn't have the money he promised him, Arthur tells him that he will give his son free piano lessons. The only problem is that Arthur doesn't know how to play the piano.

    Shrink WrapWhen Carrie and Arthur's constant fighting begins to irritate Doug, Arthur is taken to a therapist (William Hurt) to discuss why he has to yell and act up all the time. It is revealed that Arthur's problems stem from his childhood, by being horribly treated by his own father (Ben Stiller). With Arthur cured, Doug and Carrie realize that Arthur wasn't the only one with issues, leading them to take turns dealing with problems of their own.
