Ex-cavalry scout and gunfighter Will Sonnett and his grandson, Jeff, search the West for Will's son, and Jeff's father, Jim Sonnett, a former lawman and gunslinger, who has avoided seeing his son in order to keep him away from the assortment of killers and bounty hunters who are after him.

Once there, the two find that any traveller passing through town has been bushwhacked and forced to work until they drop dead while the Sheriff and the Judge pocket the proceeds.

    A Difference of OpinionWhen Jeff and Will ride into a town run by unscrupulous marshals who rule over the townspeople, they become further incensed when they discover the marshals claim to have run Jim out of town. Jeff goes against his grandfather's advice and confronts the marshals on the main street in full view of the town. Will finally backs his grandson's play and they run the marshals out of town.

Though the hotel-shooting is the result of a cruel practical joke, the gunman still thinks he has a line on Jim's whereabouts through a saloon hostess who was recently Jim's girlfriend. When Will and Jeff arrive in the town, the sheriff and the hostess work separately to prevent a disastrous gunfight.
