Indignant over her recklessness, Chang teases Lan Ling, much to her mortification.
On the other hand, Yang Yung and Li Tsing eventually win the first day's tournament by joint efforts. Shu-ming makes an unsuccessful attempt on the life of Ke Lan and is rescued by Chang, who offers to bring him back to Chung Yuan. Resenting his sincere intention, Shu-ming clashes with him. Lan Ling passing by, not knowing the truth, helps Shu-ming, enabling him to make good escape. Lan Ling becomes suspicious of Chang's identity and follows him, only to be teased by him again.
Yang Kuang arranges to trap Yang Yung into a fatal accident during the tournament. Chang discovers it, overpowers Shu-ming attends the competition for Yang Yung, saving him from assassination by Kuang's man.
Accusing Yang Yung of sending men to assassinate him, Ke Lan puts Yang Yung in custody……
