The Expanse Ratings & Reviews
- Karen NakamuraSeptember 19, 2025Hard sci-fi combined with deeply believable characters and excellent story development. Yes please! I haven’t been so invested in characters since … Serenity/Firefly. I just love this series and my only sadness is that I’m on season 5 and I know this story arc is closing. Just amazing. It should be on every sci-fi nerd’s must watch list. Now I’m off to read the books!
- stevencaceres245June 26, 2025I explained this series this way: Star Wars is fantasy, Star Trek is Hope, and the expanse is the way the future will roll out in reality. It is science based and explores the human condition. It shows the best part of humanity and the worst part. It can be racist and it can show people whose minds are actually open to change. The science part of it is super cool. It isn’t that huge of a leap to imagine this world. I have watched the entire series from the first episode to the last episode seven times over. And I can almost guarantee you that you can just jump into any episode and you will come upon a scene that will blow your mind and just draw you in to their world. It is magnificent storytelling.
- tlhintoqJune 3, 2025Years after ending, The Expanse still tops every reviewer, every list, every sci-fi YouTube channel for being the absolute best, most accurate, visually stunning sci-fi created FOR A VERY GOOD REASON: IT IS. While maintaning a grounded, character-driven compelling storie. Its one of those "lightning in a bottle" shows that came at the right time, with the right cast, the right production, the right everything. It does start with world-building so give it the first 6 episode just learn your way around this universe: This is not some simple Trek you've seen a dozen times opening on the bridge with your 'forever crew'. This is an epic story you invest in to and are rewarded 100 times over.
- Kraine OpasenJune 20, 2025“A masterpiece of modern science fiction — intelligent, intense, and utterly absorbing.” The Expanse isn’t just a show — it’s a full-on experience. From the very first episode, it pulls you into a lived-in universe of political intrigue, interplanetary tension, and hard science fiction that feels frighteningly real. The mystery unravels like a noir thriller set among the stars, while the drama is deeply human — filled with moral grey areas, complex characters, and moments that punch you in the gut. Every faction — Earth, Mars, the Belt — feels fully realized, with their own agendas, accents, and scars. Visually stunning, philosophically rich, and driven by incredible performances (especially from Shohreh Aghdashloo, Wes Chatham, and Dominique Tipper), The Expanse is that rare blend of science and soul. I watched it in one breath — and wanted more. This is space opera at its smartest.
- Marcelo ScatenaJuly 31, 2025I loved how the physics in this show works how it would in real life, and that they don't spoon feed it to us. Doing research on gravitational concepts that they demonstrate on screen was really cool. The story is also fantastic and Amos is just <3 I really hope that in ~10 years they finish the TV show, because the last three books are awesome.
- american_shishiJuly 21, 2025Right up there with the 2001 Battlestar Series for the best sci-fi ever put on television. The setting and the characters both are incredible, fleshed out, complex, believable. The story is captivating and unique. The space battles alone (though sadly few and infrequent) are just the pinnacle of sci-fi realism and what real space combat might look like. This under-appreciated gem deserved a much bigger audience and the chance to completely adapt the entire book series. But at least they made it to a natural stopping point in the series and you won't feel unsatisfied by a cliffhanger if you watch. Amazing acting from a huge ensemble cast. Fun, excitement, great visuals, deep political intrigue plots; if you've ever enjoyed a sci-fi at all, there's so many reasons you're going to love this one!
