Season 1

Harry Caines is the new Customs Surveyor, or district head, at Wrelling, a small port on the Dorset Coast. His job as 'the new broom' is to shake up the office and keep one step ahead of the smugglers and criminals. He must land 'the big fish' behind the small-timers who ply back and forth across the English Channel.

    Major Barclay's Last StandCalvin Simpson reports a large number of pensioners, day tripping across the channel, and bringing back goods without paying tax. Caines shadows Major Barclay who organises pensioners to bring the goods back, from the channel, to order.

    Uncommon MarketCharles Thieron hires a bomb maker to and set off an explosion in London. Chris Lucas, who is undercover trailing him, witnessed the bombing. He later dies after a lorry forces his car off the road. Caines has to break the news to Alyson

    The Dog It Was...George Haycock and his daughter Beattie, return from France, with their dog. The dog turns nasty and runs away. George suspects rabies but decides to say nothing. However Calvin gets a report about the dog's entry and an alert is called.

    Rare BirdCharles Thieron snatches a White Snowbird falcon and sells it for £80.000. Calvin spots the bird in transit and Customs confiscates Thieron's birds. Thieron steals the falcon back. Sue Gibbons is spotted and now considered a suspect.

    Cover UpCustoms are tipped off about a boat smuggling cannabis. When a second boat acts as decoy they need a plan. Tom warns his ex-wife that her dealings with Thieron are under investigation. Calvin's girlfriend Anna is Thieron's drug courier.

    Touch And GoWith wife, Sue under investigation, Tom resigns. Sue finds she is longer any use to Thieron. Calvin learns Annie Solstrom is smuggling cannabis on her boat. Drug Squad catch the small fry but Thieron has escaped justice and heading home.
