Self-styled "progressive" elements in Jesse Jim's former home on the Seahost Reserve are making trouble for the wise old chief. The old man, with an assist from Nick, conspires to teach the troublemakers a gentle lesson by nominating Jesse as Acting Chief. The sudden appearance of a cow in the kitchen of Molly's Reach is only the beginning of the troubles that ensue.
