Bud and Lou are unemployed actors living in Mr. Fields' boarding house. Lou's girlfriend Hillary lives across the hall. Any premise would lead to slapstick, puns, lots of gimmicks from their movies.

    The Drug StoreThe boys are now 8 weeks behind in their rent and their boarding house superintendent catches them trying to sneak in. He's prepared to throw them out but when they indicate that they just can't find work, he sends them to the drug store around the corner. Costello is hired as a sales clerk and soda jerk while Abbott gets to be assistant manager. Mayhem ensues.

    The Dentist's OfficeLou (Lou Costello) has a very bad toothache and Bud (Bud Abbott takes him to a near-sighted dentist (Sid Fields). Te results aren't good and Lou then decides to get arrested so he can get free treatment from the county. Instead, he ends up preventing a bank robbery and is a hero with a bad toothache.

    JailLou (Lou Costello) is arrested for shooting a hole into a pail belonging to the next-door neighbor, Mrs. Crumbcake (Elvia Allman). His case goes to court and Lou, to his dismay, discovers that Mr. Crumbcake (Stanley Andrews)is the judge. Lou is thrown into jail and his cell-mate (Sid Fields) shows homicidal tendencies at the mention of the words...Niagara Falls.

    The VacationBud (Bud Abbott) and Lou (Lou Costellodecide to take a vacation at the Biltmore Hotel near Phoenix. Bud frets over his concern that their landlord, Mr. Fields (Sid Fields will rent their apartment while they are gone, and Lou packs and unpacks every time Bud changes his mind. They finally set out for their vacation trip and Lou drives a half-block down the street to the Biltmore Hotel next door to the Phoenix Cafe.

    The Birthday PartyLou throws a birthday party for himself, but nearly poisons his guests when he puts ant paste on his hors d'oeurves instead of anti pasto. Bud throws him out and Lou consoles himself by ordering a giant decorated cake.
