Inspector Günter almost believes its a hallucination and Ekberg living below asks Inez to forget all about it, but there are strange people living in the building, such as the bookseller and the secretive women in the sculpture workshop, are they innocent? Or the man who locked the door to the attic when she was there and the man falling from the scaffold.
