Garak and Bashir are waiting in line in the mess hall, when suddenly, Garak falls ill. An examination reveals an implant in his brain. The device - which was implanted a year earlier - is to prevent the bearer from giving away secrets whilst being interrogated, but, now, Garak's time is quickly running out, and Bashir looks for a way to save his friend's life. In the meantime, Garak tells him contradicting stories about his past.
