End Games
After torturing a stool-pigeon, Spawn learns that it was Antonio Twistelli who kidnapped Cyan while at the safe house. But Tony's boys have lost the girl to the deadly hands of Billy Kincaid. News of the screw-up travels fast and Jason Wynn confronts Senator McMillian about Billy's actions. McMillian denies any knowledge of his killer son's doings, and both men are left wondering who could be behind it. Wynn believes the senator has nothing to do with the interference and is convinced that there are other players in the mix who are screwing with his plans. He sends Chapel off to track down the weapon thief, while he concocts his next move. Meanwhile, Antonio Twistelli prepares to leave town knowing that losing the child will cause him a great deal of trouble. Season 1 Ratings & Reviews
Uproxx
Dan Seitz
It did a surprisingly effective job of both translating McFarlane's art into motion and in capturing the sometimes cheesy vibe of the original comics.
CBR
G. Kendall
Although the Spawn comic was often mocked for its needlessly opaque handling of various conspiracies, Season One of the animated series actually crafts an engaging web of intrigue.
Screen Rant
Justin Bruce
Bringing a sense of authenticity to animated shows for adults, Todd McFarlane's Spawn garnered acclaim from critics and the public alike, who praised the show for its storytelling and for capturing the dark and gritty nature of the comic book series.
Collider
Dave Trumbore
The inimitable Keith David imbues the title character with gravitas, heart-rending despair, and flesh-ripping anger.
IGN Movies
Richard George
Willing to cater exclusively to older audiences by preserving the violence levels and subject matter of the comics. Spawn is still one of the few series to take such a bold stand.
Bullz-Eye.com
Jason Zingale
Has a ton of style, and the casting of Keith David in the role of the dark, growling anti-hero is absolutely spot on, but it's simply not enough to keep you coming back for more.
Entertainment Weekly
Marc Bernardin
The series' leisurely pace allows you to become entranced by the mood, too, as you wait forever for the anemic plots to thicken.
Variety
Ray Richmond
It's as dark and complex as anything HBO has attempted in the live-action arena. And visually, it's quite the stunner. HBO wanted different, and it surely got it.
IGN Movies
Eric Goldman, Matt Fowler, Scott Collura and Joey Esposito
Visually distinct and containing dark and compelling stories, the Spawn animated series was a far more successful adaptation of the character than the live-action feature film of the same era.
