Despite suggestions that he is too old to compete, Matt decides he needs to enter the "Man From Snowy River" Horse Race. Duncan Jones, a Merchant Marine and old school friend of Rob's, arrives in Paterson's Ridge and Matt invites him to stay with the family at Langara. Mrs Tan, the McGregor's housekeeper, quits after one too many arguments with Danni about how to run the kitchen.
