A talented employee of the Department of Psychology, Ulyana Sinitsyna, is not allowed to defend her doctoral degree because of a "dubious" topic. She is trying to substantiate and promote new methods of making psychological portraits. To prove her theory in practice, the stubborn Ulyana gets a job as a consultant to the police. Her partner, investigator Igor Levin, is skeptical of her ideas until they help in the complicated case of the ballerina's murder.
