Slade is involved with warring Apache Indians when he is taking a killer to Denver for trial, stops at the stage station and finds the body of the attendant killed by an Apache arrow, in “Legend of a Hero.” Slade ends up as the go-between for Redhawk, the Apache chief and the U. S. Cavalry troops.
