The planet's poles, the Arctic and its frozen ocean and Antarctica, a continent buried under glaciers, have fascinated people since ancient times. Scientists and adventurers have been venturing into its waters for a long time. Here is a brief snapshot of these adventures, one focusing on the Arctic and the search for the "Northwest Passage" and the other, coming soon, focusing on Antarctica and its disputed race to the planet's magnetic pole. For this expedition, we invited the intrepid explorers of GeoPizza, in an unprecedented crossover with Scicast. Come with us and freeze to the bone!
