The planet's poles, the Arctic (in SciCast 579) and its frozen ocean and Antarctica, a continent buried under glaciers, have fascinated people since ancient times. Scientists and adventurers have been venturing into its waters for a long time. Here we bring you a brief snapshot of these adventures in Antarctica and their disputed race to the planet's magnetic pole. For this expedition, we invited the intrepid explorers of GeoPizza, in an unprecedented crossover with Scicast. Come with us to freeze to the bone and learn about the brave men who gave their lives in the name of exploration and discovery in these inhospitable regions!
