Documentary series about the history of Danish commercials, both theatrical and from television. Through rare and often funny commercials, director Liv Thomsen portrays the Danish historical and cultural development during 1900-1990.

In the old days, clothes mainly had to be practical and cheap. Today, clothes are a big part of our identity. Experience a sea of funny fashion advertisements, e.g. for 'fine clothes from Brugsen' in the 20s, for Brylcreme in the 50s and Wrangler in the 70s. Host: Liv Thomsen.

In the old days, we loved all that fat, and in the first black-and-white films, the chops are drowning in margarine. Today, on the other hand, we are hysterically scared of fat, and a sea of light products are advertised. Host: Liv Thomsen.

    Om vores familie, fra patriark til papfarStrong and clever men, pretty and diligent housewives, polite and silent children. This is how the Danish family is portrayed in a sea of old commercials. The picture only changes in the 70s. Suddenly, Lisbet Dahl appears as an out-of-work woman in a candy commercial, and the men appear at the meat pots. Today we laugh at the old cleaning ads tailored to the housewife, but for our grandmothers they represented the dream of the perfect life. Host: Liv Thomsen.

From the 20s, the films develop and become small, entertaining stories. Famous actors appear in the films and popular fictional characters appear, e.g. Vitalius Sørensen, who advertises OTA Solgryn. Irony sells - later DSB-Harry and Polle from Snave come along. Host: Liv Thomsen.
