Monty goes to high school, but he has difficulty concentrating on his studies at home. Because Dorthe's little son cries a lot. Johan has fainted in the quarry, but he does not want to be seen by the doctor. Monty sees a cute girl named Birte, but both she and Johan and Erna have to say goodbye to Monty when he goes to Zealand to study to become a school teacher. His parents are afraid that he will never return home to Bornholm again.
