E12016 New Year SpecialOn the way back from visiting a shrine for the New Year, Koizumi-san (Hayami Akari) suddenly falls down. She asks Osawa Yu (Miyama Karen) and Nakamura Misa (Furuhata Seika), who are in a panic, to take out the water bottle inside her bag. There is astonishing liquid inside this bottle. Koizumi-san completely recovers and they go straight to Asakusa’s leading ramen shop ‘Yoroiya’. The three of them eat the New Year’s special of ‘zouni ramen’ and have a blissful time. The scholastic test results for the new school term are pinned up in the corridor. But Koizumi-san, who always tops the test, has to retake it. Everyone reacts with shock. When the committee’s chairperson Takahashi Jun (Tanaka Mirei) calls out to Koizumi-san in concern, it turns out that ramen was also the reason she handed in a blank paper. Koizumi-san speaks passionately about ramen to Takahashi’s surprise. When she returns to the classroom, a handsome male student Naruto Mitsukuni (Narita Ryo) comes in search of her. His lackeys provoke Koizumi-san by telling her, “Stop talking like you know so much about ramen and acting self important”, “Naruto-kun who has the absolute palate and eats 500 bowls of ramen a year is the school’s ramen connoisseur. Osawa gets into a quarrel with them in her attempt to defend Koizumi-san. After school, they go to eat at ‘Menya Hanabi’, the Tokyo branch of the popular Nagoya shop. Naruto and his gang come to the shop by coincidence. He invites them to eat together, but Koizumi-san mutters, “Ramen is not something eaten by slurping,” and pays him no heed. The two of them soon get into an argument about the essence of ramen. Then some old men who love the familiar ramen arrive. Koizumi-san unexpectedly takes up their suggestion to have a serious contest to determine whose love for ramen is deeper, and a ramen battle unfolds. Will Koizumi-san win this silly but sublime battle? Or will Naruto?
