Season 1 Reviews
The Hollywood Reporter
Ray Richmond
None are interesting enough to much care about, much less relate to.
New York Magazine/Vulture
Maggie Fremont
Privileged was just as aspirational as Gossip Girl, but with a much lighter, more playful tone.
The Deadbolt
Brian Tallerico
The team behind Privileged don't do enough to make the characters believable and likable and don't go far enough in the other direction to turn the series into guilty pleasure fun.
Entertainment Weekly
Mandi Bierly
The tension could be a nice slow build. That is, if the series doesn't end with the season finale.
AV Club
Claire Zulkey
Well-written, spunky and pretty to look at.
Variety
Brian Lowry
Smart, breezy and glossy.
Los Angeles Times
Mary McNamara
For a show so clearly determined to be sharp and sassy, the unquestioning acceptance of wealth as some sort of alternate universe or higher state of being is very, very depressing.
Washington Post
Tom Shales
It's a shallow grave of a comedy-drama hybrid...
USA Today
Robert Bianco
Alas, like most copies, Privileged is a second-rate imitation.
New York Post
Austin Smith
"Privileged" plays like an exercise in fantasy fulfillment for the CW's youngish audience.
Boston Globe
Matthew Gilbert
Privileged does have an unexpectedly sweet and cautionary undercurrent that you don't always find in shows that invite us to gawk at opulence.
Newark Star-Ledger
Alan Sepinwall
As these shows go, it's not bad.
People Magazine
Tom Gliatto, Monica Rizzo, Lesley Messer and Chris Willard
The premise is both trite and tiring.
PopMatters
Todd R. Ramlow
Ethical conundrums are the real surprise of Privileged. While the show doesn't (yet) expand on its opening diagnosis of the "New Gilded Age," it just might offer more careful consideration of other possibilities of self-interest.
Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
Rob Owen
"Privileged" has the potential to be a largely positive, female-skewing series.
Common Sense Media
Kari Croop
More appealing than "just another teen soap."
