Norman Stanley Fletcher is sentenced to 5 years at her Majesty's pleasure at HM prison Slade in darkest Cumbria. His naive cell mate Lenny Godber needs to learn the ropes, skives and scams and strict prison officer Mr.Mackay tries to run the prison his own way. And then there's Mr.Barroclough who is just too weak willed to have his good nature exploited.

Poetic JusticeFletch and Godber get a new cell-mate and Fletch is shocked to find it is elderly Judge Rawley, the man who handed him his five year sentence, now convicted of corruption. Though disappointed that Rawley has no dirt to dish on the governor, a friend, Fletch is protective towards him when the other prisoners decry Rawley's privileges. He also tells Rawley that if he had known he was bent he would have offered him a bribe. - Pardon MeE4
Pardon MeOld Blanco is doing time for the murder of his wife. He still swears he wasn't guilty. Now he's up before the Parole Board and it looks as if he's sure to be released. Blanco surprises everyone by turning down parole when it's offered to him. He explains that, if he accepts parole, he'll also be admitting that he was guilty of a crime for which he was wrongly convicted. He insists that he'll only leave prison if he's offered a full pardon. Fletcher comes up with a plan to help him.
