Winfried, Carl-Heinz, and Bernd are three dissimilar brothers. Winfried, the eldest, is a bon vivant and a womanizer, constantly involved in shady dealings. Carl-Heinz has a criminal record but hasn't reoffended in the last three years. He works as a passenger in a furniture company. Since he married a wealthy woman after his prison sentence, his livelihood seems secure. His divorced brother Bernd has taken over a bar where the three occasionally meet. Winfried doesn't have much time for his somehow naive brother Carl-Heinz. When Winfried gets into serious financial trouble, however, he turns to Carl-Heinz's wife. But she is unwilling to help him. A short time later, she is found strangled in her apartment.
