Different shapes are all around us and are a constant source of wonder to young children.
This week in Play School we explore shapes through play. Learning about basic shapes helps children recognise numbers and letters and sets the building blocks for learning to read and write later on.

Build a puppet theatre with cardboard boxes or foam blocks.
MAKE AND DO
How to Make a Sleeping Bag for Your Toys
You will need:
- Coloured material
- Sewing machine
- Safety scissors
- Paste
Ask an adult to cut two identical rectangles from coloured material, pin them together and use a sewing machine to sew three of the edges.
Cut some shapes from a different coloured piece of material.
Paste these shapes onto your sleeping bag, or ask an adult to sew them on.

- A4 coloured cardboard
- Pencil
- Safety scissors
