Different shapes are all around us and are a constant source of wonder to young children.
This week in Play School we explore shapes through play. Learning about basic shapes helps children recognise numbers and letters and sets the building blocks for learning to read and write later on.

How to Make Window Shapes
You will need:
- A4 coloured cardboard
- Pencil
- Safety scissors
- Clear contact Coloured cellophane Torch
Draw a large shape in the middle of a piece of A4 coloured cardboard, such as a square, a triangle or a circle.
Carefully insert a pair of scissors in the middle of the shape you have drawn and cut out to create a frame.
Cut out a piece of clear contact, about A4 size. Stick it to one side of your frame to create a window.
Cut different coloured cellophane into small pieces.
