Different shapes are all around us and are a constant source of wonder to young children.
This week in Play School we explore shapes through play. Learning about basic shapes helps children recognise numbers and letters and sets the building blocks for learning to read and write later on.

Stack different shapes to make different shaped buildings, such as a rectangle building with a triangle roof. Use play dough to create lots of different shapes.

You will need:
- Plain A3 paper or cardboard
- Coloured paper Safety scissors Paste
- Marker
Cut lots of different shapes from coloured paper.
Paste the shapes onto a plain piece of A3 paper or cardboard to create a shape picture. You might like to arrange some shapes on the paper to create an object, animal or person. We m
