The story about the activity in Rostov of the gang of "phantasms" that robbed state institutions and kept the entire city in fear. Vyacheslav Tolstopyatov, having witnessed the brutal execution of protesters in Novocherkassk in June 1962, completely rethinks his life and attitude towards the state and the authorities as such. Being a man of genius, he and his brother organized a gang that, from 1968-1973, keeps the whole city in fear.
