But one barely noticeable earthquake shifts something in the earth's crust, and the well of local plumber Semyon Plakhov suddenly fills with oil instead of water. Now Semyon has two options: sell the plot for next to nothing or somehow develop production, processing, and marketing. To prove his worth to his wife, who wants a divorce and leaves him and their son, the quiet and calm Semyon, together with a local gifted freak, Ulyan, develops underground oil production and attempts to build "the most honest dishonest business."
