Mysterious Island (1995)

Season 1

In 1865, a group escapes from a Confederate prison in a balloon, only to be carried halfway around the world. They are shot down while approaching land (which they later discover is an "uninhabited" island. The shooter (Nemo) wishes to make use of them for some experiments he has planned. The volcano on the island has other ideas.

GenesisIn the final days of the Civil War, a Union captain, a freed slave, a reporter, and a family of man, wife, and son, escape from the Confederates in a stolen balloon which drifts across America and finally deposits them on a Pacific island.
Down Under

Down UnderHarding and company learn their island lies far from any mainland, is volcanic in origin, and seems prone to earthquakes. They also come to believe it's inhabited by some sort of force or power characterized by a green light.
Safe Haven

Safe HavenA rockslide of suspicious origin partially buries Gideon. To free him, Harding creates an explosion using improvised gunpowder. Later, Neb stumbles into a cave which the castaways decide to turn into a residence: Granite House.
White Water

White WaterDiscovery of a washed-ashore chest full of carpentry tools and navigation instruments inspires the castaways to build a boat. For a sail, they'll use cloth from their balloon which they find tangled in a tree.
A Death In The Family

A Death In The FamilyThe castaways find a note and message in a bottle. These lead them to an elusive, possibly dangerous man named Ayrton who's been stranded on the island for six years. One of the castaways then apparently dies of a snakebite.
Love Thy Neighbour

Love Thy NeighbourWhile the castaways grieve for Neb, Nemo revives him and puts him into suspended animation storage. Pencroft's jealousy leads him to hunt down Ayrton. Harding soon realizes the phantom presence on the island is causing the castaways to turn against one another.
All That Glitters

All That GlittersPirates land on the island, taking the castaways by surprise. The pirates seek to recover buried treasure and their arrival prompts the release of new and disturbing information about the hermit, Ayrton.
The Price Of Vengeance

The Price Of VengeanceJoanna stumbles into an underwater trap set by Nemo and the others race to free her. Shortly thereafter, Captain Cutler, sole survivor of his ship's destruction, makes his presence known on the island and leaves a violent wake as he seeks revenge on the castaways.
The Phantom's Lair

The Phantom's LairHarding's underwater explorations lead him into a metallic chamber where he talks to (but does not see) the island's mysterious Phantom. In Granite House Gideon confronts a young black woman whom he regards as a savage cannibal.
It Should Be An Englishman

It Should Be An EnglishmanHarding returns from talking with the Phantom, discovers a party of "cannibals" has landed to retrieve the young woman who confronted Gideon. Hostage-taking ensues. The "cannibals" finally depart, refusing to take the castaways with them.

No One Rules MeNemo observes Harding's feelings about Joanna, manifested in romantic dreams, as part of his research into the workings of the human mind. Meanwhile, Joanna is trapped by an earthquake while Herbert discovers a cryptic note from Ayrton.

He's Not HeavyNemo intercepts a canoe and brings a wise old native woman to the island as a culture clash experience, but finds himself face to face with a superior power. Joanna's stand for women's rights has unexpected consequences.

Gideon's Tale (1)Herbert realizes that it is his birthday, but decides to keep it a secret. He is angry because he thinks Joanna has forgotten, and while she prepares a surprise gift for him, he decides to find a way to leave the island.

Gideon's Tale (2)When pirates bring two women to the island, Nemo uses the situation to study human mating habits. The women, meanwhile, set their sights on Gideon and Herbert, which encourages the men into a near fatal show of male bravado.

Last Rites Of SpringJoanna argues with Herbert after a dream about a baby, and leaves the Granite House, headed for Ayrton's cabin. She has an accident on the way there, and is rescued by Nemo, who drugs her and questions her, learning she is pregnant with Jack's baby, but is afraid of childbirth.

Labours LostA storm is coming injuring Cyrus Harding. Joanna is pregnant with Jacks child but is afraid she will die in childbirth like her mother and Sister. Nemo will do everything to protect Joanna and her baby.
