Tempted by the promise of becoming a samurai, Musashi Miyamoto participates in the Battle of Sekigahara (1600) and awakens the injured among thousands of corpses. On his way home, he joins the line and becomes an indicted criminal. Eventually, he loses to the unarmed Zen priest Oftu and goes to him for a three-year binding of martial arts and philosophical training.
