Monk gets his badge back. But he learns that he will not be working with Stottlemeyer and can't have Natalie with him. On his first day, a cop dies and all signs led everyone to believe it's a suicide but Monk doesn't think so. And he raises questions about the cop which the other cops he works with don't want raised. But he continues to investigate while wondering if being a cop again is what he really wants.
