By the year 0096 of the Universal Century, a fragile peace emerges from the ashes of conflict. Sixteen-year-old student Banagher Links visits the Industrial 7 space colony on a school field trip, but because of a broken shuttle, he is left completely stranded. To Banagher, who has always lived a normal life, war had always been a distant, almost mythical part of history; but within minutes, fantasy becomes reality when he rescues a girl named Audrey Burne, who urgently needs to meet with the leader of the nearby Vist Foundation, Cardeas Vist. She hopes to persuade him to withhold the "Laplace's Box," an object that holds the potential to destroy the world. History is set in motion as galactic forces converge on Industrial 7, each vying for possession of the Laplace's Box. As Neo Zeon remnants clash with Earth Federation Forces around the colony, Cardeas, in his final moments, gives Banagher the key to the Box, a mobile suit dubbed "The Unicorn Gundam." Packed with explosive action and rising tension, Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn RE:0096 follows Banagher as his conviction is tested and the destiny that has laid dormant for more than a century is finally realized.

Full Frontal's PursuitAfter repulsing the Kshatriya, Banagher loses consciousness, and along with the Unicorn Gundam, he is retrieved by the Earth Federation Forces warship Nahel Argama. The ship has also rescued Audrey, as well as Takuya and Micott.

Clash with the Red CometDaguza has taken Mineva (or Audrey) hostage, but Frontal rejects his demand for a ceasefire and declares that he will sink the Nahel Argama. In order to save Audrey, Banagher sorties in the Unicorn Gundam.

Under the MaskRemoving his mask and revealing his face, Frontal requests the cooperation of Banagher, who can activate the Unicorn Gundam. When Banagher refuses, Angelo berates him for killing one of his subordinates.
The Battle at Palau

The Battle at PalauThe Earth Federation and ECOAS execute their assault on Palau as Banagher escapes with the Unicorn. He once again battles the Kshatriya until the NT-D system kicks in and defeats the Sleeves' mobile suit. Marida is captured and Alberto Vist is allowed to take her to an Anaheim Electronics facility on Earth. Meanwhile, Riddhe Marcenas springs Audrey from detention and they head to Earth to meet up with his father Ronan.

Laplace, Where It All BeganMarida, now a prisoner of the Federation, tells Banagher to keep on saying, "Even so..." She says that he has the power to awaken another system that sleeps within the Unicorn Gundam.

RetributionThe Unicorn Gundam reaches the wreckage of Laplace, and the La+ Program's seal is broken. A speech given 96 years earlier by Ricardo Marcenas, the first prime minister of the Earth Federation government, begins playing back.

From the Scorching EarthAfter saving Banagher and the Unicorn Gundam, which were falling toward Earth, the Garencieres crash-lands in the Western Sahara. Meanwhile, Zeon remnants who have been hiding on Earth launch an attack on the Earth Federation capital.

Battle at TorringtonAs they cross the desert, Banagher learns of Zinnerman's tragic past, and how his family were killed by the Federation Forces. He decides to head for the Torrington base, where new information will be disclosed.

ReturnAs the Gryps 2 colony laser fires toward Magallanica, Banagher and Riddhe use their full potential in an attempt to stop its destructive force. Their combined psycho field successfully blocks the colony laser, but at the cost of Banagher being absorbed into the Unicorn Gundam. Audrey then reveals herself to the Earth sphere as Mineva Lao Zabi as she broadcasts her speech about Laplace's Box.
