Father Jan, manager of the year, runs his own ICT company and is willing to pay 250.000 Euros ransom. Jan also refused a share of the profit to co-founding chief designer Sam De Wael, who bitterly resigned, but only confesses to stealing back some of his own designs. Nick openly resents Walter being succeeded not by Tine but by her ex-lover, commissioner Eric Coppens, and illegally arrest habitual pedophile Karel Dooms. A vague ransom call trace leads to ex-con Carl van Looy, but he's badly shot himself.
