Discovering Malaysian cuisine through the eyes and hands of the locals. In this mouth-watering, beautifully-shot series, we follow John as he discovers the best of Malaysia - uncovering its rich and complex cooking culture, discovering its beautiful sights and meeting its warm and engaging people. From the hustle and bustle of Kuala Lumpur to the peaceful tranquillity of the tiny island of Langkawi, and even the spectacular sun-kissed beaches in Pahang, John Torode will be finding out where key ingredients come from and how they are sourced. Exposed to the country's diverse and multifaceted make-up through encountering a wide range of interesting characters, preparing food alongside authentic home cooks, street food vendors, restaurant owners and chefs. Throughout the series, John will encounter Malaysian food fans based in the UK - as he meets the professional chefs and home cooks who are pioneering and championing Malaysian cookery. Alongside them he discovers how easy it is to source the ingredients needed to create that authentic Malaysian experience here in the UK. In each episode wel see John in his kitchen applying what he learned on his travels, and adding his own twist to the classic "hero dishes" of Malaysian cuisine, whilst showing the viewer how they can cook up a Malaysian storm.
