When Johan Falk was 19 years old he lost his girlfriend Maria and their unborn child when Maria got hit by a car. Falk takes the accident very hard and do not even go to the funeral. He decides that crime must be fought and applies immediately to the Police Academy. The movies are, however, only about Falk as an police officer with many years of experience from the National Task Force. He often goes his own way and does not shy away from using controversial methods. This leads to that the colleagues often experience difficulties in cooperating with him and managers are forced to turn a blind eye to what he's doing.

E1Zero ToleranceJohan is a two-fisted Göteborg cop who finds himself in a shoot-out with jewel robbers. After the smoke has cleared, one robber, shot by his accomplice, and an innocent bystander, are dead. Three witnesses, including Helen, identify thug extraordinaire Leo Gaut as being the dead crook's trigger-happy colleague. Gaut soon threatens the three witnesses, and only Johan, the badge-wearing hero, can save them. - Executive Protection
E2Executive ProtectionAfter causing a commotion with his last assignment, Falk has been given a desk job, which hardly agrees with his personality, and he ends up accepting an offer from an old friend to buy into a private investigation agency. Another friend of Falk's, Sven, purchased a business in Estonia, and when local gangsters attempted to pressure him into paying protection money, Sven retained the services of Nikolaus Lehmann, a burly private eye, to throw them off his trail. However, Lehmann does his job all too well, murdering the racketeers, and then threatening Sven and his family. With no where else to turn, Sven asks Falk to help him deal with the crazed Lehmann; Falk agrees, but soon realizes he's dealing with a more dangerous man than he imagined when Lehmann kidnaps Falk's wife Jeanette, and then releases her with a time bomb locked around her neck, demanding that Falk hands over ownership of his detective agency to Lehmann. - The Third Wave
E3The Third WaveIn The Hague, Holland, the new chief of Europol, Sellberg, broadcasts a tough speech against the third wave of crimes in Europe, promising to suffocate the schemes of powerful criminals. He invites his former detective and friend Johan Falk for a meeting, with the intention to join him to his team. Meanwhile, the executive Rebecca accidentally opens one correspondence of her mate, Kane, and finds that he launders illegal money for European mobsters. When she decides to disclose her discoveries to Europol, her life is jeopardized by the associates of her boy-friend, but Rebecca is rescued by Johan, and they have to fight against the organized crime to save their lives and Johan's family.
