She confronts British officials for violently mistreating natives though Vahini had told her that they are helpless British slaves. At the mela, as a joust begins between George, a British cavalryman, and Nana, Nana's initial successes lead to British trickery, which causes his loss. But Manu bravely continues the contest, stunning all, including Tatya Dikshit.
